Tango in Lisboa

Barraca at Sunday night! This is the best place for me in Lisbon..... Music it is very milonguero style hosted by Alejandro Laguna... See agenda of Lisbon here. If you want to dance in middle of the week have a try on Bar Carib at Bairro Alto at Tuesdays. It is small but very cozy. I will edit this post after visiting the other weekly places. Check the TNT blog for open air milongas.

Tango in Porto

It is easier to talk about others then to talk about your own place. When I do visit a place I try to look for milongas where they mainly dance "tango milonguero" and they play traditional tango (1930-1950). And this is this kind of information I will put here.

Since there is little overlapping of events in Porto, people don't have to choose. You can dance from Thursday to Sunday and the first 2 Wednesdays of month (see here agenda). There isn't a proper place where the style is completely milonguero. Even among closed groups/friend there is a wide variety of styles. Best music can be found at Friday Milonga and at first 2Wednesdays of the month. See an interest post here from Saturday Milonga. Environment at Sunday is great because the host always welcomes you warmly, but music is unconsistent unfortunataly.

Women coming alone might have a hard time to find a partner to dance. This happen all over the country and it is due because Portuguese are generally reserved people. I will write a post about it later.

Tango Atlantico - Part II

This is part two of my blog (part one can be found here and it is mainly in Portuguese).

This blog now it is more now about my dynamic views of tango. I've change of opinion so many times about tango... and for sure I will change it in future. This dynamic view of tango comes from the fact the more I dance, more I feel I do have to learn. Tango gets very slow in the body....

I also intend to give feed backs to the milongas and their local communities on the places I do visit during my off-work time. In most places I feel warmly welcome in their milongas and I would like express here my gratitude for that. I also intend to share here the organizational pratices of these communities that it can be of use to others.
